Frank Becker

He combines three things that go together very well. He has been taking photographs since he was 11 years old, is a former car mechanic and has a passion for sports cars and classic cars.

Other subjects include landscapes, architecture and event photography. He particularly enjoys converting images to black and white and printing them. His main job also involves a lot of printing. Today, his laboratory is his PC and printer, where he creates selected fine art prints. Due to his proximity to the event, he has known Classic Days since its inception. His motto is ‘The eye makes the picture, not the camera,’ which is why he pays attention to details that are often overlooked.

Susanne Dobler

She has actually always been taking photographs. So her passion became her profession. She began her training as a photographer with Horst Wackerbarth (the man with the red sofa) and completed it in 1994 with Stefan Schumacher. She then worked as a freelance photojournalist, but also cultivated her artistic side. Both of these aspects are clearly evident in her work at Classic Days: the photojournalist captures people in a very special way, while the artist surprises us with unusual perspectives of vehicles.

Wolfgang Grube

He has been working worldwide as a freelance photographer for leading domestic and foreign motorsport magazines and specialist publishers for over 30 years. His clients include well-known industrial companies as well as models and private individuals. For many years, Grube was the exclusive photographer for Nürburgring GmbH. His camera documented the construction of the new race track and pit facilities. Since the opening of the new Nürburgring, he has documented almost every motorsport event in the Eifel region as a photojournalist. Wolfgang Grube was himself a successful motorsport competitor until 1986, taking part in many motorcycle road races and trial events.

René Hey

He is a qualified graphic designer. His love of photography and cars, as well as motorsport in general, led him to combine these interests several years ago, and he can often be found in this environment with his camera. In addition to Classic Days, he is particularly drawn to the Nürburgring – both on and off the track.

Ivo Könen

It must have been in the early 1970s when my father took me to the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring for the first time. Even then, I was captivated by the atmosphere and the dynamics of the vehicles. After that, I returned to the racetracks in the surrounding area many times, first as a spectator, later as a photographer.
Today, I see the racing cars of my childhood at classic car events such as Classic Days and enjoy the unique atmosphere. So, alongside event photography, photographing speeding cars has remained my passion.

Ralph Lüker

His enthusiasm for cars and motorsport has lasted for over 30 years. The first race he photographed live, back then as a spectator, was the 1976 German Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Since then, he has been hooked on photographing car races. Today, he mainly accompanies historic motorsport events with his camera and photographs collector cars with great passion. His focus is often on the beauty of detail, and recognising small special features makes photography exciting time and time again.

Hans-Peter Reichartz

I have been working as a freelance photographer for various newspapers and magazines for many years. My favourite subjects are people, nature and events.

As a native of Bonn, I didn’t have far to travel to the Nürburgring in the 1970s and spent my free time there with my car or camera. That’s where I met and photographed some racing enthusiasts, including Jochen Rindt, Jochen Maas, Dieter Glemser, Hans Heyer and Hans Joachim Stuck, to name but a few.

Classic Days bring that time back to me, and that fascinates me and transports me back to the old days. It’s the people and the cars at Classic Days that captivate me so much.

Claus Riensche und Ralf Kruchen

For two generations, the name ‘atelier riensche’ has stood for quality in graphic design and communication. Since 2003, ‘motorsport-photo-service’ has complemented the creative range of services. What began over 25 years ago as a passionate hobby has developed over the years into a professional commitment. In addition to motifs from all kinds of race tracks, the archive is enriched by the wide field of classic car events such as the ‘Mille Miglia’.

Thomas Rogasch

He bought his first SLR camera when he was 12 years old. Over the course of three decades, he developed his own approach, which he summarises as follows: ‘make the familiar strange; make the strange familiar’. He now increasingly photographs and presents 3D and 360-degree panoramas. Influenced in his younger years by legendary drivers such as Stuck, Mass and Röhrl, Rogasch is a founding member of the Kadett-C-Club Kaiserslautern e.V., whose Easter meetings are legendary. The club commemorates Walter Röhrl’s rally successes in an Opel Kadett C GTE.

Heinz Schiffer

…has been a passionate photographer for over 40 years – whether formerly with analogue cameras and a darkroom or now digitally and on a computer. In addition to people and architecture, his favourite subjects include classic cars. At Classic Days, he is always thrilled to see how people beam themselves back in time, so to speak, and live out their passion with joy and pride, not only with regard to technology.

This combination of fascinating technology and stunning design in old cars on the one hand, and people in vintage style on the other, often results in a perfect combination and inspires him to capture this special atmosphere at Classic Days in photographs. His ability to connect well with people and quickly build trust helps him to take authentic photos.

Stephan Sieger

I was about 14 years old when I held my first SLR camera in my hands. My passion for cars developed during the slalom and stock car races that were popular at the time. I have been taking digital photographs since 1999, and my beloved photo lab has migrated from the darkroom to the PC. In addition to aviation and night photography, motorsports and cars are still among my favourite subjects. However, my greatest passion is classic cars. At events such as Classic Days, where the technology, the design of the bodywork and the play of light on the paintwork and chrome never cease to fascinate me, it is important to capture this special atmosphere in photographs.

Herbert Steves

For the man who often commutes between the racetrack and his hometown, photography is both a challenge and a passion. The combination of creativity and technology is what makes photography exciting for him – and has done so for 35 years. Since taking his first pictures at the Nürburgring, motorsport photography has been Steve’s top priority, and over the last 15 years he has increasingly focused on classic cars. His pictures have appeared in books, (international) magazines and calendars.

André Strucken

He has been interested in motorsport since the mid-1970s. In 1980, he began regularly attending racing events and taking photographs. In addition to current and historic racing events, he has archived many photographs of road sports cars, convertibles, prototypes and classic cars. All important data is stored in a comprehensive database, so that even unusual motifs can be found very quickly, if available.

Michael C. Thumm

has been working as a freelance photographer for several decades.

At Classic Days, he skilfully captures enthusiasm, encounters and emotions, translating the special nature of the classic car world into his fantastic images. His photographs are widely known.

Sabine Waskönig

“Don’t shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like.“

Analogue photography was my father’s great hobby, and he eventually turned this passion into part of his profession. It is hardly surprising that some of this rubbed off on his daughter. I held my first camera in my hands at the age of 12, and even then I was allowed to experiment with my father’s Leicas. Then as now, a love for what you do is crucial to the quality of the result. Even if you do it differently today. Digitally. Faster. And often more superficially, but that doesn’t make it worse.

My favourite subjects are historic vehicles on and around the race track, especially in the pit lane. Preferably with ‘their’ people in motion. My pictures are intended to convey emotions, to tell something about the atmosphere and mood. All my pictures are digitally edited.
